Neymar finally made his move from the Hypervenom into the Mercurial Vapor official, by lacing up in the new Dark Lightning pack as Barcelona were made to settle for a point in Saturday's 1-1 El Clásico draw against Real Madrid at the Camp Nou.

Neymar has officially rejoined the Mercurial ranks. In a move orchestrated by the brand and the player,  the Brazilian switched into the Mercurial Vapor XI ‘Dark Lightning’ for the first El Clásico of the season. It draws his time as the lead face of the Hypervenom silo to a close, three years after the boot launched. Of course, Neymar perfectly fits the bill as a Mercurial player, and with Cristiano Ronaldo not getting any younger, the move positions Neymar that step closer to becoming Nike’s main man.

With the release of the Hypervenom III looming it will be interesting to see who fills Neymar’s boots as the lead face of the silo. Of course, there’s no shortage on the Hypervenom roster, with Robert Lewandowski or Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang the most likely. For Neymar, it’s a happy return to a boot he became so synonymous with during rise at Santos and an end to the disguised Hypervenom-Mercurial boot saga that’s followed him in recent seasons. For the Vapor, the move brings with it the exciting inevitability of a Neymar signature Mercurial and a renewed focus on Nike's most celebrated silo after recent years in the shadow of the Superfly.
