Nike have tooled up Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for the Africa Cup of Nations with a custom edition of the Hypervenom Phantom II. The Borussia Dortmund man is one of the Swoosh's key players in the tournament and his personalised pearlers ensure Gabon's star man stands out in more ways than one.

Aubameyang is no stranger to an outrageous bespoke design, having previous worn a Mercurial Vapor covered in 4,000 Swarovski crystals and a BVB Superfly edition. His latest touch of custom creation comes in the form of a smart Hypervenom transformation that he wore to get his 2017 AFCON campaign underway – A game in which the Gabon captain scored to earn his country a 1-1 draw with Guinea-Bissau.

The boot in question is more than just a custom colourway. The AFCON is one of the most colourful and expressive tournaments in world football and Aubameyang's Hypervenom Phantom II matches that style, wrapped in a black and gold gradient upper with iridescent soleplate. The Swoosh and Hypervenom graphics are filled with scattered stars to add a further sense of exclusivity on the Gabon man's footwear.

The stars have become somewhat of a trademark for Aubameyang's impressive archive of custom designs and the latest edition lands in its most official form yet, although Nike have no plans to release the design as a limited edition, these are strictly exclusive to the man himself.

Those of you who follow Aubameyang on Instagram would have already been expecting to see them on pitch at the Africa Cup of Nations, after the Dortmund forward shared photos of his new wheels with his 3.4 million followers.
