Bayern Munich have continued to ramp up their training sessions ahead of an anticipated return to action, and their young French midfielder, Mickael Cuisance has been spotted getting up to speed in a blackout version of the next-generation adidas X 20+.

Whisper it from the rooftops: football’s almost back. At least in Germany it is anyway, with rumours suggesting that a 15 May return is due to be announced imminently. And with that news in mind, Bayern Munich have been back in training for a couple of weeks now, with Ivan Perisic ticking all the right boxes by returning in the 2006 Nike Tiempo Legend II. But now, as the Bundesliga leaders ramp up their preparations for the recommencing of the league, there comes a second boot spotting treat, this time in the form of Mickael Cuisance, who slipped into the sleek-looking next-generation X 20+.

The X 20+ was probably originally scheduled for a launch ahead of this summer, possibly with EURO 2020 in mind, but all that has probably gone out of the window now. Having missed some crucial feedback time over the last six weeks, adidas will be keen to hear what Mickael Cuisance has to say about the boot as they refine it ahead of its – probably delayed – official debut. Of course, the 20-year old is not the first player to be spotted in the new X, with Gabriel Jesus putting it through its paces prior to lockdown.

The new design features a smooth all over upper with what looks to be a slightly re-designed, straighter-cut laceless 'tongue' area, probably to improve fit and tightness around the top of the foot. The X is set to retain its position as speed boot option in adidas’s armoury thanks to its lightweight design, so tech-wise we're not expecting a complete overhaul across the silo, just some tweaks to improve the feel and possibly a new approach to the aesthetic, something that won't be confirmed until the official release, whenever that ends up being.
