A regular Nike Phantom GX wearer, Aurelien Tchouameni has been spotted in a mysterious whiteout boot in Real Madrid training, and it looks likely that it’s the first look at the next generation Phantom, which is expected to drop later this year.

Boots don’t hang around for long these days without getting upgraded. A perfect example of this is the Nike Phantom – it feels like it only just came out, and yet it now appears that we’re getting our first look at the next generation, which is likely to drop later this year. French midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni was spotted in a whiteout pair of boots in a recent Real Madrid training session, and while they can’t definitely be identified as a Phantoms, it would certainly make the most sense.

As with all prototype boots getting an early run out, there’s not much that can be told about this new boot, the shroud of monochrome serving its purpose to aplomb and disguising any obvious new features and tech upgrades. What we can see though is that the outsole does not have an external heel counter, while what little we can see of the upper looks similar to that of the popular Hyperpvenom Phantom III. Despite the vague nature of this spot one thing is for sure and that is that it’s not a Phantom GX, nor does it look like a Mercurial either. Therefore, the likeliest option is that it’s the next generation of the Phantom line.
