For the 2019/20 season, Nike created three outstanding kits for AS Roma that look as striking off the pitch as they do on it. And the Swoosh decided to take the appeal for the shirt one step further, inviting three artists and several players along to a special event to rework the shirts.

Jersey culture continues to grow in strength season on season, with brands upping their creative game and offering up club shirts that are able to seamlessly transition from pitch to pavement, making an impact on lifestyle circles as much as on the playing arena. Nike are blazing a trail in this respect, and Roma were one of the clubs to benefit this season, with three exceptional kits. To further blur the lines between the performance aspect of the shirts and their appeal away from the game, Nike and AS Roma chose to reinterpret the shirts at a special event hosted at the Nike Store in Via del Corso.

Working alongside three of Roma’s exciting young talents in Lorenzo Pellegrini, Mirko Antonucci and Nicolò Zaniolo, and Andressa, Elisa Bartoli, Vanessa Bernauer, Agnese Bonfantini, Manuela Giugliano and Annamaria Serturini, from the Roma Women’s team, three artists, Ladynina, Detshorore and Cipstrega, reinterpreted all three of the AS Roma 2019/20 shirts for a completely unique and personalised style.

The designs saw the home shirt emblazoned with a stylised ‘ROMA’ print on the front by Ladynina, the away shirt taking on a Japanese mask across its front, as designed by Detshorore, and the third shirt, created by Cipstrega alongside Nicolo Zaniolo, featuring the words "Core de Roma”. An ‘applausometer’ was then used to gauge the reaction of the attending public, with the third shirt getting the most plaudits.

The three jerseys will be displayed in the Roma Nike Stores before they are then used as part of a charity initiative organised by Roma Cares.
