Toronto FC have once more showed they they rule the roost in Canada as they won their seventh Canadian Championship in a row in the shape of the 2018 'Voyageurs Cup'. Putting Vancouver Whitecaps to bed in picking up a trophy that sits separate to the regular MLS run of fixtures, it once more shows Toronto as the big time team in town.

This, the second leg of a double-header of fixtures, it saw Toronto FC pack the net and run out eventual 5-2 winners on the night, 7-4 winners on aggregate. Plenty of goals over the two legs, the scoreline personifies the style of play that went into this contest - a rather gong-ho, gunslinging set of fixtures - and equally just how much each side wanted to make sure it's their name that sits pretty as the kings of Canadian club football.

While there were plenty of goals on the night, it wasn't until the 39th minute when Jozy Altidore stepped up to opening up the score-fest. He followed up after half-time with his second and third goals to bag a hat trick and in doing so, sweeping the opponents aside. There were goals that served as a consolation for Vancouver thanks to Kei Kamara and Brek Shea but it wasn't enough to overturn a heavy deficit thanks to the first leg lead Toronto held. Still, a strong battle between two sides going for the win, Vancouver may be disappointed but they still managed to dent the Toronto scoresheet well.

Toronto now go in search of an MLS Cup Playoff place and will also stand a chance of adding more trophies to the cabinet thanks to the first ever Campeones Cup which will see them face Tigres UANL. A new tournament that puts the champions of Liga MX and the MLS together, it's like a club super cup between title holders from respective sides of the border. Smart.
