As Nike unveiled their FootballX collection at their Innovation Showcase at St George's Park we caught up with Max Blau, VP Nike Football Footwear to talk about how FootballX can influence and is influenced by the small-sided game and its players.

Merging Nike's 2014 World Cup boot technology with the FC247 collection has created a new era for 5-a-side football, which goes by the name of FootballX. "We're resetting our small-sided strategy, we're bringing the current strategy of silos and the FC247 collection into one. We want to bring the best options to the players who plays small-sided football" says Blau.

Some description

Built specifically for small-sided football the collection consists of two silos, the MagistaX and MercurialX, both of which are offered with an Indoor (IC) sole and a Turf (TF) sole. The rise of small-sided football is something Nike have focused heavily on in recent seasons as Blau explains, "We have invested in small-sided, we have a team that is fully dedicated and only looks at that side of the game and the needs of the player that plays it."
