Arsenal fan Maverick Sabre is the latest artist to pick out a playlist for the occasion. A football centric playlist, he has picked out those winners for the pre-game/post-game party.
Dropping his new single, 'Drifting' and a new album in Spring 2019, Maverick Sabre is on a fresh journey that will see him soon head out on tour with the likes of Jorja Smith. Explaining his latest track, Sabre goes into detail; “I wrote the song 'Drifting' to numerous different visuals (music videos/film) that I was inspired by at the time from Kendrick Lamar's Khalil Joseph Documentary through to La Haine. That's why it's has this cinematic feel within the music alone before we even created the film. I was brought up in Ireland and Irish cinema has always grabbed me, so we wanted to carry that on through this as well and make sure it was captured as beautifully as possible. The aim is to tell as many different untold Irish stories within grander film. 'Drifting' is Scene One”
His playlist is a perfect essential to the match day make up. While we got his tracks, he also gave us a glimpse of his life as an Arsenal fan.
"I was born in Stoke Newington in 1990 so Arsenal was the nearest club and first one in my memory. Moved to Ireland when I was 4, always played and watched football but as I got older music took over. I came back to London when I was 17/18 and got to reignite my love for football and moved into the Finsbury Park area not to long after which obviously has a big Arsenal fan base. Then started going to my first Arsenal games. Would be lying to say I remember exactly what the first game I saw was but I have a feeling one of the first ones I can remember was Arsenal v Newcastle at the Emirates."
