Adidas continue to pull on the nostalgic heart strings of Manchester United fans with a new collection of United x Originals clothing for the new season. Maximising the brand's reunion with the club, adidas have been quick to lean on their famed archive of MUFC designs to release a modern range or retro wonders.

Last year marked the first series of Man United x adidas Originals inspired by the club's 1985 FA Cup winning kit and now the Three Stripes have reached back into their red closet to select a new collection of old-school United pieces. Adidas Originals have re-released the 1984 shirt worn on the night that United overturned a 2-0 first-leg deficit to beat Barcelona at Old Trafford and reach the European Cup Winners’ Cup semi-final.

That famous shirt comes complete with Sharp sponsor, however other pieces in the collection, including the 1985 FA Cup semi-final replay shirt drop the Sharp branding for a cleaner more retro vibe. Daley Blind and Jesse Lingard help model the new season updates that also include track jackets, windbreakers and shorts.

If nothing else, the collection reminds us how crisp the Originals logo looks on performance jerseys. More proof that adidas are covering all bases in style when it comes to reigniting their relationship with England's most decorated club. First the opening Originals collection and then the 'Stretford' shoe, throw in how the brand have incorporated current culture and hype such as Stormzy and Paul Pogba to market more modern lines and you can begin to see how strongly adidas are using all avenues of United pull power.
