Drawing inspiration from gabber-rave-football culture, Umbro have launched their latest football-infused collaborative capsule, this time with luxury streetwear brand Aries.

Umbro’s collaborative game continues into SS21, and the Double Diamond’s latest moves sees them pairing up with Aries for a 10-piece collection that is packed out with big shapes and loud colours that have been lifted straight fro the 90s. The collection comprises a selection of ‘90s-esque football jerseys in red, pink and blue, a training set and the iconic Umbro drill top and pants combination.

The collection has been captured in a lookbook shot by renowned photographer Lea Colombo, and it views each piece through a unique lens, framing them in an equally eye-catching wash. A video has also been produced to accompany the launch, capturing the vibe of the era and combining it with one of the more odd nuances to come from football over the last 18 months.

Playing amateur football was off limits during lockdown, so we started playing football with our dogs instead,” explains Aries founder Sofia Prantera. “While researching the creative with Lea we found amazing footage of known footballers like Messi training with their dogs. This combined with the beautiful work of Dutch artist Rineke Dijkstra became the inspiration for the project”.
