In a special collaboration of creative players from different fields, David Alaba and Serge Gnabry hooked up with students from the USC Iovine and Young Academy during the summer to create two special sneaker designs based on Bayern’s 2019/20 third shirt. Fans then voted for their favourite, and, with Team Alaba coming out on top, the winning design is now available to buy.

Students of the USC Iovine and Young Academy – named for Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre – were recently tapped by adidas for a special footwear design competition that saw David Alaba and Serge Gnabry going head-to-head as they created some special, custom FC Bayern third shirt-inspired sneakers, with fans having the ultimate say for which would be produced. And it was Team Alaba who took the plaudits over Team Gnabry, and now the SpeedFactory AM4 FC Bayern Sneakers are available for retail.

Both designs were based on the AM4 shoe and featured the core colourings of the Bayern third shirt. While Alaba's crew went with a pixelated navy-to-white gradient along with bright red branding, Gnabry's team opted for a navy and red combo, UltraBOOST-style heel counters, and Bayern's crest. Two belters, but there could be only one winner, and Alaba’s offering got the nod to be produced in the adidas SpeedFactory.
