Barcelona will be wearing a Catalan coloured kit when they host Athletic Bilbao at the Nou Camp this weekend.
Barca have never worn the colours of the Senyera at the Camp Nou but Saturday will see them drop their famous blue and red stripes for the colours of the Catalan flag, a move which has been welcomed by followers of the Catalonia independence movement. Thursday marked the National Day of Catalonia but the club have denied the change in kit supports the movement and have stated that the Senyera shirt is being worn to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the fall of Barcelona at the hands of the troops of Phillip V and the French in 1714.
