In an instance of football meets baseball, Liverpool Football Club’s Jurgen Klopp and Sadio Mane welcomed one of Major League Baseball’s brightest young stars, Francisco Lindor to Anfield.

The Cleveland Indians shortstop, who has been part of the MLB All-Star Game for each of the past three years, headed to Anfield ahead of the Merseyside Derby, where he met with fellow New Balance ambassadors Jürgen Klopp and Sadio Mané. Lindor was taken on a tour of the stadium before he and Mané swapped limited edition boots, the Liverpool attacker trading his Bambaly boots.

Lindor was treated to all the hospitality LFC have to offer, including being presented with his own Liverpool shirt featuring the same number that he wears for the Indians, and it took pride of place in the changing rooms alongside a Steven Gerrard shirt. Unconfirmed rumours suggest that a tearful Joe Gomez had to be convinced he still had a place in the squad.

Sporting a pair of recently released New Balance LFC 247 trainers and with scarf in hand, Lindor then watched the Merseyside derby – his first ever Premier League game – as New Balance’s guest.
