As part of the latest free content update, EA Sports have announced that CONMEBOL Libertadores, also known as Copa Libertadores de América, will be exclusively added to FIFA 20. South America’s biggest and most prestigious club tournament will be available to play on most formats from March 2020.

The passion of South American football is something else, and it comes as no surprise that the premier club cup competition is now set to be added to FIFA 20 as part of the next batch of updates that will arrive in March 2020. Indeed, the biggest surprise is that this was not available from the outset.

Bringing two of the most prestigious continental football tournaments, Conmebol Libertadores and Conmebol Sudamericana, into FIFA 20 is an exciting step forward,” said Nick Wlodyka, GM, EA SPORTS FIFA. “This new partnership with Conmebol bolsters our position as the deepest football experience available as we continue to build the most authentic sports video game for our fans.

CONMEBOL Commercial Director, Juan Emilio Roa added: “This alliance with EA, one of the largest video game companies, is a major step forward for the worldwide dissemination and image of South American football. Thanks to this agreement, our tournaments, clubs and players will have greater reach and recognition among the football fans who will have a whole new way to follow their heroes.”

Along with the Copa Libertadores, the update will also include CONMEBOL’s other South American club tournaments, the CONMEBOL Sudamericana and CONMEBOL Recopa, and it will include clubs from Uruguay, Perú, Paraguay, Ecuador, Brazil and Argentina, such as River Plate, Boca Juniors, Flamengo, Corinthians, Racing, Indepentiente U. Católica and Colo-Colo.

The CONMEBOL Libertadores update will only be for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, so unlucky if you've got a Nintendo Switch.
