With their five-year contract with Nike set to expire at the end of next season, Liverpool are reportedly set to re-sign with adidas, rekindling their relationship with the Three Stripes after a 13 year hiatus.

Liverpool signed a kit deal with Nike back in 2020, ending their partnership with New Balance to wear kits produced by the Swoosh for the first time in their history. But it looks as though its set to be a relatively short-lived partnership, with a report from SportBusiness saying that the club are set to sign a deal with adidas from the 2025/26 season. It will be the first time in 13 years that Liverpool have worn adidas kits, and the third time overall, following stints from 1985-96, and from 2006-2012.

Adidas reacquired the rights to produce Liverpool’s kits following a tender process in which the German brand were the highest bidders in a deal that would run for five seasons, from 2025/26 to 2029/30. It’s understood that the new adidas-Liverpool agreement would be higher than the c. £50m paid out under the current Nike contract, although it would fall well short of the league-wide record £90m that Manchester United receives per season, also from adidas.

Following the shock loss of the German national team following 70 years of association, adidas has been on a big recruitment drive. They currently boast Manchester United, Arsenal, Fulham and Nottingham Forest from the Premier League, while Newcastle and Aston Villa are set to join from next season. Nike, meanwhile, will only have Brighton, Chelsea and Tottenham following Liverpool’s departure.

The connection between Liverpool and adidas has recently strengthened following the switch of Trent Alexander-Arnold to the brand, with the playmaking fullback becoming a face for the Predator franchise, recently receiving his own signature 'Pure Strike' colourway.

One more year of Nike kits for Liverpool then...
