Nike hold a private event to mark the launch of the new England world cup kits

To mark the launch of the new England World Cup kits Nike held a private event in London where select media were invited to meet the designers behind the shirts, understand the story and inspiration surrounding the products and to view them first hand.

The exhibition showcased photography on the gallery walls of the England players kitted out in the new home and away strips, stood in front of one of the famous Three Lions that sit proud on the crest.

On the new home shirt, Martin Lotti, Nike Football's Global Creative Director told us; "Two references really stood out during the design process for the home kit – that stunning all-white kit England wore in Mexico in 1970 and the idea of the armour of English Knights,” added Lotti. "You can see subtle references to the armour in the pinstripe, which carries a hint of shine, and in the white satin tape on the shoulders."

The material used to inspire and create the home shirt were on show at the exhibition with pictures of English Knights in battle sat next to the thread used on the pinstripes. Let's hope the next Nike England shirt has an extra star on it.
