Umbro increase their grip on the Premier League by announcing a five-year technical partnership with West Ham United, starting from the 2015/16 season, a landmark year for the East London club.

Spelling out the name of the brand using five locations around the Boleyn Ground, The Hammers join the likes of Everton, PSV Eindhoven, Grêmio, FC Tokyo and Vasco da Gama, to become the latest club, rich in history, to sport the Double Diamond. Umbro first produced replica shirts for West Ham in the 1960s, the decade which saw the rise of Hammers legends including Bobby Moore, Martin Peters and Sir Geoff Hurst, who wore Umbro shirts when winning the World Cup with England in 1966.

Paul Nugent, VP of Global Marketing for Umbro, commented: “West Ham United is an incredibly exciting and significant signing for Umbro. This is a special period in the club’s history and we are delighted to be part of it. The last season at the Boleyn Ground will be an emotional one and we worked closely with the club during the design process to create a memorable set of kits to commemorate the final season. Our kit designs for West Ham are unique to the club and celebrate the rich traditions of the club whilst incorporating all the modern performance properties required for today’s game."

That's where Umbro have excelled for us, bespoke kits unique to each club, rather than standard template designs we see across the wider face of football.

Stay tuned for the reveal of the new West Ham Umbro shirts in the coming weeks. Good deal for both parties? Let us know your thoughts.
