New York City FC took an alternative route to unveiling their new secondary jersey for the upcoming 2016 MLS season. David Villa, Andrea Pirlo and Kwadwo Poku all made surprise visits to fans around the five boroughs to give them a first look at the beautiful new away strip.

The design takes inspiration from the vibrant, energy of New York City, using the flag of City as the basis for the core colours of blue and orange. Demonstrating the diversity of the City itself, the club picked out Brooklyn-born youth worker Omari McCleary, Italian restaurant owners Mauro Servisi and Michele Costa, and Irish pub owner Mick Mellamphy who moved to NYC in 2000. Each receiving a visit from one of the club's star players.
