Manchester United and adidas have launched the club’s new home kit for the 2016/17 season, taking inspiration from the club’s early years as Newton Heath LYR Football Club.

In the second year of the United shirt donning the Three Stripes, adidas have gone right back to the start for the design of the home strip, with the two tone red split evoking the two-tone Newton Heath kit of 1878. The official coat of arms for the City of Manchester was the basis behind the idea for the honeycomb graphic that knits together the two red block designs on the shirt.

The Three stripes run from under the arm and down the sides of the shirt, much like the adidas jerseys from EURO 2016. It's a stylish look for Mourinho's men and one that they'll be wearing through their global pre-season tour before wearing at Wembley against Leicester in the Community Shield on August 7. Ibra was dragged into the modelling duties as soon as he signed but he's no match for Morgan Schneiderlin's double-hard-b*stard pose.
