Ready to bring it once more for what is only their third year, defending MLS Cup champions Atlanta United have released their new primary jersey for the 2019 season, affectionately referred to as the “Star and Stripes” jersey.

Two years in and Atlanta United have already achieved their shared aim of winning the MLS Cup. But that’s just the beginning, and now the defending champions are set to go again, only this time they’ve earned the right to have a star above their club crest, signifying their triumph. The new jersey was unveiled at a special event at the Mercedes Benz Stadium in front of thousands of gathered fans.

The essence of the shirt remains the same, with the red and black stripes forming the core, finished nicely with some gold trim for a regal feel that’s fit for the champions. The word “United” features on the base of the neck, and within the design lies a Golden Spike, a symbol of the club’s tradition, which stems from the city’s railroad beginnings.

The number 17 also features prominently, bordered within the outline of the State of Georgia. The number 17 has taken on special meaning for the club and fans, being the year that they began their MLS journey, whilst also nodding to State Route 17, which runs past the city of Atlanta.
