Set for a debut in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers and then to be used at the Euros this summer, adidas launch the new Germany 2021 away shirt, with a switch to shade, going for a black look for the first time in ten years

Right, we’re going to say its right off the bat: this is a beautiful shirt. Blackout designs rarely look bad, and that’s very much the case once again here. Part football shirt, part lifestyle piece, this shirt could walk right off the pitch and onto the street without a second glance. It’s the first time in ten years that Germany have had a black kit, but this one takes things a step further, with a distinctive revamp.

So there are black kits and then there are blackout kits, and barring a subtle German black-red-gold flag colours on the sleeves, which is a design element consistent with the home shirt, this one sits firmly in the latter camp. It’s thanks to the inclusion of charcoal-grey coloured branding and crest detailing, making the shirts appear almost completely devoid of colour, barring the aforementioned cuff trim, of course. It’s clean, simple, and sleekly seductive.
