Offering a seasonal refresh ready for spring, Liverpool debuted their new 2022 training range from Nike yesterday – but fans hoping for a new fourth shirt that follows in the same dark green colour scheme will be disappointed.

Following the likes of Arsenal and numerous other clubs across Europe, Liverpool stepped out on the training field at the AXA training centre in their all new training collection from Nike. Boasting the usual array of drill tops, tees, shirts and shorts, the collection comes in an iconic colour from the Reds’ past, which has led to fans wishing that the collection would be accompanied by a new fourth shirt, but that won’t be the case.

The collection's official colourway is "Dark Atomic Teal/Bright Crimson/Mystic Stone", and it is dominated by the teal, which instantly brings back memories of the club’s away kits from the early 90s. It’s then accented by the "Mystic Stone" details on the club crest, sponsor and branding, while black panels and flashes of the crimson colouring that border the current home shirt finish the look.

Following the launch of a retro collection that used the same teal colourway as this collection, which dropped in 2020 just before Nike dropped their first-ever LFC kits in the 20/21 season, there was a strong feeling and hope that the away kits of the early 90s could serve as inspiration for the new away shirt, but so far that has yet to happen. Surely it’s a shoe-in for next season’s away or third shirt though, particularly if this training range is anything to go by.

Side note: great to see Harvey Elliott back in training following his injury.

The Liverpool 2022 Training Range will be available on prodirectsoccer.com from 31 January.
