Inspired by the lettering seen on the journey to the stadium, adidas unveil the Arsenal 22/23 away shirt. The new kit will be worn on pitch for the first time on Wednesday 20 July, when the men’s team face Orlando City in their opening match of the FC Series in the States.

While the main talking point of the new Arsenal home shirt was undoubtedly the returning collar, the away shirt gets plaudits for the overall design. It combines a bronze cannon badge and bronze metallic trims with shades of black and carbon that showcase an AFC all-over graphic inspired by the Arsenal lettering that fans pass on their way to Emirates Stadium on matchdays, bringing an air of familiarity when the club are on the road.

The shirt is partnered with black shorts and socks, decorated with carbon accents, that further complements the stadium-inspired design of the jersey. A women’s fit shirt will also launch in both authentic and replica versions, as well as a youth kit which will be available for fans to purchase from today.

Commenting on the new kit, Inigo Turner, Design Director at adidas, said: “We looked at including different parts of Emirates Stadium in this away jersey, which would ensure that fans can take a piece of home with them, even when travelling away to support the team.

We know that every fan has a different relationship with the stadium, whether it’s walking from the Tollington, or strolling down Blackstock Road. These streets, the bronze cannons, the concrete ‘Arsenal’ lettering all make Emirates Stadium a unique place. It is a space used by the community and fans alike on any day of the week, and we wanted to weave in some of those references to help transport north London to Gunners across the world.
