As stylish as always, Adidas unveil the Ajax home shirt for the 23/24 season, and it sees the club crest taking up a central position on the chest for the first time in over 15 years.

The white and red of Ajax’s home shirt is an iconic look, known throughout the world and instantly recognisable. Keeping the look traditional yet fresh year on year must be one of the great challenges of the design world, and yet adidas manage it yet again, this time with a simple switch up of club crest positioning, bringing it into a central position for the first time since the 2007/08 season.

The Ajax crest first made its debut in the early 70’s and that was in a central position. It then moved to the top left in the 1982/83 season, when Ajax introduced TDK as first shirt sponsor. In 1991/92 it returned to its original central position for another 17 seasons, with ABN Amro as main sponsor, which can be seen again on the women’s shirt.

Falling in line with the central position of the Ajax crest, the adidas and Ziggo logos also feature centrally on the jersey, as do Amsterdam’s iconic St. Andrew’s crosses, which are featured vertically as neck detail. The iconic red lane is made of a rich fabric, with subtle vertical stripes to enhance the classic appeal, while the collar and cuffs feature added detail to finish the look.
