The godfather of Nike football boots. The Tiempo is the foundation on which the Nike football brand was built and now that foundation is restored and reconstructed to rise to the roof of the Swoosh innovation empire.
The fifth-gen boot served strong for two years but the baton is passed over to the Tiempo 6 to continue the legacy and add a new chapter to the illustrious Tiempo timeline. Two decades of Tiempo talent is transformed into the sixth edition of the Tiempo Legend series, which boasts a number of new technologies with Nike showcasing their creative prowess to enhance and modernise the notorious comfort and touch associated with the boot.
The most advanced Tiempo Legend to date arrives with a new take on the trademark quilted leather toe box. Nike have delivered the touch attributes of quilting without extensively perforating the leather in a new look for the Tiempo Legend 6, which also features an internal, cushioned cage that holds its shape and grooves the leather with minimal stitching.
The brains behind the new concept is Nike Football designer Vianney de Montgolfier who explains; “With this new construction, Tiempo Legend 6 delivers the feel of quilting, but without compromising the leather. The foam backer has been vacuum pressed to the leather to ensure a soft, seamless construction. By eliminating quilting, we reduce the possibility of mud or water seeping in through the quilt lines, as that can harden the leather.”
The Nike Tiempo Legend 6 tongue also receives a revamp as a one-piece solution is integrated into the laces and a moulded heel and microfibre socklines further help to keep the foot in place. Understated, classy and premium. Everything the Tiempo represents. Most new release designs split opinion and win players over through time but there won't many knocking these.
