Paul Pogba and the ACE series are the dynamic duo behind the success of adidas Football in 2016. The headline player with bags of character and the laceless boot at the very top of the adidas innovation game. Pogba's summer in the spotlight projected the ACE to lofty heights and the partnership is now ready for a new chapter as the Frenchman slips into a blackout edition of the unreleased ACE 17+ silo.

Expected to launch later this month, the adidas ACE 17+ Purecontrol football boots will bring the second generation of adidas Football laceless technology to the game and will once again be fronted by the lead asset, Monsieur Pogboom. Slipping into the new adidas ACE 17+ at the France National Team training base in Clairefontaine, Pogba was supplied with a blackout edition of his new boots to get to grips with ahead of the launch.

Pogba joined up with the France squad ahead of their World Cup Qualifier against Sweden at the Stade de France on Friday, followed by a friendly against Ivory Coast on Tuesday – although these fixtures are expected to come around before adidas go all ACE 17+ on our asses. The ACE 16+ PURECONTROL was the success story of the adidas Football Revolution and unsurprisingly the Three Stripes don't look to have tinkered too much with the design for the 17 edition. The same laceless silhouette provides that clean striking surface and the Primeknit upper brings the comfort.

Expect adidas to have a fair few crowd-pleasing colourways up their sleeves with the design of the ACE 17+ Purecontrol lending itself perfectly to the tri-coloured heroes of yesteryear. There's also an extra surprise on the soleplate of the ACE 17+, with adidas bringing their heralded BOOST technology to the boot. So what do we know so far? It's a definite upgrade not an overhaul, and it looks the absolute dogs in all black.
