Kicking off their 2021 campaign with a bang, Nike brought together two of the best athletes in the world for the ‘Chosen 2’ pack, which saw the worlds of basketball and football combined for a special edition Mercurial Superfly and LeBron 18, and after unveiling his special gift, Kylian Mbappé debuted his new boots in PSG’s match against St-Étienne last night.

The ‘Chosen 2’ pack was unveiled yesterday, and it didn’t take Kylian Mbappé long to unwrap his new gift from Nike, showing off his new LeBron 18 and Mercurial Superflys to the world before lacing up in the latter for Paris Saint-Germain’s 1-1 draw with St-Étienne. The game was Mauricio Pochettino’s first in charge, and Mbappé was clearly keen to make an impression, and he played an important part in the build up to PSG’s equaliser.

Design details across the ‘Chosen 2’ Mercurial include a KM x LBJ pattern across the black upper that features pops of silver and an iridescent finish. A ‘Chosen One’ ambigram logo is found on the boot’s toe and 3D KM and LBJ logos are presented on the heel tabs, while a double Swoosh sits on the forefoot and on the sock liners, where a football x basketball pitch/court graphic appears on the left and a LeBron x Kylian ambigram on the right.

Both Mbappé and LeBron James received the sneaker and boot combo in a specially presented box, which utilised the same pitch/court design to separate each, with each half containing the respective footwear piece.

With the French World Cup winner having given his boots a debut already, all eyes will be on the Lakers’ game with San Antonio Spurs tomorrow to see if the King pulls on his new signature LeBron 18s.
