Continuing for a second chapter with the legendary Manchester Designer, adidas present the new Manchester United x Peter Saville collection, which draws inspiration from the colour wheel from the “Power, Corruption and Lies” album by New Order.

Arriving as a follow on to the first collection that dropped in April 2022, adidas have once again turned to designer Peter Saville for a new Manchester United lifestyle capsule. Where the first collection was centred around Saville’s iconic “Unknown Pleasures” album artwork design from Joy Division, reimagined using heart rate data from MUFC men and women players, this latest collection is inspired by the colour wheel from New Order’s “Power, Corruption and Lies” album cover. Using the colour alphabet, the range is brought to life in a new and completely unexpected way for 2023.

The collection is made up of a statement tracksuit, which sees the black base elevated by the special colour banding down the left side, and monotone Three Stripe branding down the right. That’s joined by an opposing long sleeve jersey and shorts, which come in a white base, again, with that signature accent colour execution.

The only noticeable graphic element is the colour code lifted from the original artwork of "Blue Monday" and utilised on the aforementioned “Power, Corruption and Lies” album cover, which, on the collection, when translated with the alphabet key, reads: Concilio et Labore, the City of Manchester’s motto in Latin, referencing not only the club itself but Saville’s own ties to the fabric of the city he held a 10-year creative directorship over between 2005–15.
