It’s bold, it’s bright, and there’s no way Ferguson – or anyone for that matter – can say that it can’t be seen on pitch. Say hello to the Manchester United 22/23 third shirt from adidas, which will debut this weekend against Brentford.

There’s been a running theme with United’s kits for the 22/23 season centred around the collars, and the new third shirt continues that with the simple addition a geometric pattern. But unlike the home and away, that pattern spreads across the body of the shirt. The colour green – or “Solar Slime green” to give it its proper name – features as an all-over for the first time in United’s history.  Gonna be divisive, but that’s part of the beauty of shirt design…

Whilst never before seen as an all-over jersey design, the colour green has strong connotations with the history of Manchester United. It has been a part of some of the most prestigious moments in club history, evolving from a traditional goalkeeper colourway into a more prominent outfield jersey colour in recent years.

Inigo Turner, Design Director at adidas said: “A convergence of cultural icons remixed and recoded, the 22/23 third kit takes its inspiration from the iconic Manchester United graphic identity, using geometric shapes and patterns. We’ve blended these with a new interpretation of a classic club colour for a fresh, eye-catching kit.
