Nike Football continue their new-generation Mercurial activity by releasing a short video starring Kylian Mbappé and youngster Makena Cooke. The latest Mercurial series was always going to see Nike take some the spotlight away from Cristiano Ronaldo, but how they dished it out between their two potential Mercurial heirs Mbappé and Neymar was up for debate. For this chapter, at least, it's all about the Frenchman.

You might think that Makena Cooke looks familiar, and that's because she starred in Nike's blockbuster film launched for the 2019 Women's World Cup: "Dream Further". You might recognise Mbappé from banging in goals, winning the World Cup and generally tearing up the world stage as a teenager. The new film sees Cooke, a young player from California, take on Mbappé in a crossbar challenge to win his Nike Mercurial boots.

Assuming you've watched it by now, she wins, and takes home a pair of boots she will probably never grow into leaving Mbappé to walk home in his socks. But that's not important. What is important is... well nothing really. It's just another chance for Nike to showcase the new Mercurial and for us to appreciate how smart the "New Lights" colourway looks on pitch.
