PSG superstar Kylian Mbappé will be the cover player for the upcoming FIFA 21 after he was chosen by EA according to French outlet Culture PSG. The report suggests that Mbappé has been chosen ahead of teammate Neymar, who has never graced the cover of the game before.⠀

Culture PSG report that French international and PSG attacker Kylian Mbappé has been chosen by EA Sports as the cover player for their FIFA 21 video game. Paris Saint-Germain were confirmed as Ligue 1 champions when the French league was shut down as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, and as a result Kylian Mbappe became the recipient of the Golden Boot with 18 goals. And it now appears as if that return – along with a World Cup winners medal already in his cabinet, all at the age of 21 – will be enough to bag him the honour of being the cover star of the next instalment of the game.

The outlet claims that the game makers had initially been hesitating between Neymar and Mbappé, but eventually opted for the ex-AS Monaco man. Mbappe featured prominently in the FIFA 21 first-look video clip, revealed by EA to promote the upcoming game, a factor that may well lend weight to the suggestion that he is set to take the cover spot. The decision was reportedly taken several weeks ago, and if it is genuine then it means that he will be the first PSG player on the cover since Guillaume Hoarau on FIFA 10. Neymar, however, looks set to miss out yet again, after missing out last season due to legal issues, with EA instead opting for Eden Hazard following his move to Real Madrid.

In related news, Mbappe and co. recently returned to training ahead of a return to action for the Champions League in August.
