Looks like we’re soon to be getting a new collaboration from Skepta and Nike, after Mason Greenwood teased the project on his Instagram account, tagging in the musician along with a picture of the red and black Phantom GT’s he wore recently.

Skepta has left an indelible mark on music in London and beyond with his game-changing flow and expansive creative universe — but he’s also had a profound impact on footwear by applying his aesthetic to a handful of iconic Nike Air Max designs over the years. This working relationship between brand and artist has developed over several projects in the past, and whilst they have sat fairly exclusively within the lifestyle category, there has often been a natural spill across into the footballing world, like when Kylian Mbappe arrived at France's Clairefontaine training centre back in 2018 wearing the Skepta x Nike Air Max 97/BW.

Now it looks as though we’re getting another instalment from the Skepta x Nike partnership – and this time it looks as though it won’t be just for the street, with Skepta’s deep love of football coming into play more directly. What it looks like is that we’re going to get a special edition Phantom landing alongside this season's SK Air Tailwind 5, and the fact that Mason Greenwood posted the image on his Instagram Stories shows that what we saw the United forward training in the other week is indeed this.

Dubbed the Phantom SK, It picks up the same "University Red/ Black" colourway that's been seen on the yet-to-drop Skepta x Air Max Tailwind 5 from the pair's upcoming fifth collaboration, complete with chrome pieces in the form of the Swoosh and soleplate, although the red takes on a more dominant role on the Phantom. Clearly looks set up for Greenwood to be wearing these in the near future. All eyes on United's next couple of fixtures...

UPDATE:

Skepta has now officially unveiled the SK Phantom, revealing the boot on his Instagram account. The accompanying image gives a better look at the details of the boot, including what appears to be a speckled effect on the chrome soleplate.
