Following up their recent collection with basketball superstar, Lebron James, Liverpool have now teased an upcoming collaboration with Converse, with Nike once again flexing its marketing muscles.

One of the key reasons that Nike was able to leverage the Liverpool contract away from New Balance back in 2020 was the company’s marketing power and its global reach and influence, promoted by its wider family of superstar athletes and key influencers such as LeBron James. We’ve now seen that influence in full effect with the release of the LFC x Lebron collection that dropped recently, but it looks as though Nike isn’t done there, with an upcoming collaboration between Liverpool and Converse being teased.

As with Jordan, Converse are a subsidiary brand of Nike, and the Swoosh appear only too happy to step back and allow the two entities to come together. What this collection will be at this moment in time is unclear, although it’s more than likely to be a lifestyle capsule comprised of sneakers and possibly some apparel – nothing like the takeover of alternate kits that we’ve seen from PSG x Jordan. However, depending on how this is received, it could pave the way for something on-pitch in the future – never say never.

The Converse website continues the tease, confirming that it is set to arrive on 6 April. Arriving under the banner “Creating from the ground up”, the web page reads: “The Converse x Liverpool Collection reflects the city’s buzzing creative spirit and devotion to football.
