Ever wanted to see prime Brazilian Ronaldo against Portuguese Ronaldo? Or prime Ronaldinho against Mbappé? Well, now Nike are giving you that chance through their latest ad campaign, ‘Footballverse’, which brings together stars past and present for a throwback to some of their classic ads from the past.

There have been some absolutely amazing football ads over the years, but no one arguably does them better than Nike. As if to emphasise that point, the Swoosh have unveiled their latest ad campaign ahead of the 2022 World Cup, and it breaks boundaries of time and space to bring together a host of stars, past and present in a free-for-all that pits legends of the game against the icons of today and the athletes of tomorrow.

The film sees an international team of scientists at a secret lab in Switzerland debating who the best player of all time is. They’ve written the formula that will put an end to any discussion—the ultimate battle of all football generations... With the push of a button, they bring legendary players from the past and present together.

The epic four-and-a-half-minute film features a dozen elite Nike athletes: Alex Morgan, Carli Lloyd, Cristiano Ronaldo, CR Jr., Edgar Davids, Kevin De Bruyne, Kylian Mbappé, Leah Williamson, Phil Foden, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo Nazário, Sam Kerr, Shane Kluivert and Virgil van Dijk. In addition to notable players, the film has a familiar soundtrack, “Weird Science,” written by Danny Elfman and performed by Oingo Boingo.
