Arriving slightly later than the rest of its contingent, Nike has revealed South Korea’s bold new 2022 World Cup home and away kits. The home kit lands in a fiery red with a tiger-stripe sleeve graphic representing strength and power, while the away jersey highlights Taegeuk – the symbol found on the Korean flag that represents national pride and balance between heaven and earth.

Last week Nike revealed the majority of its federation kits for 2022, and now South Korea arrive at the party, fashionably late but well worth the wait. The American brand has taken special focus on the East Asian nation in recent years, targeting them as another canvas for creativity alongside Nigeria. As a result, they get quite the pair of kits with which to be heading to Qatar later this year. With Nigeria failing to qualify for the World Cup, it leaves South Korea as the leaders in Nike’s style stakes.

Brash, bold and energetic, the Korean home kit centres on the motif of Dokkaebi. The fiery moniker represents the fierce mentality of a proud nation and is amplified by vibrant Global Red and a tiger-stripe sleeve graphic representing strength and power. The away kit highlights Taegeuk, the symbol found on the Korean flag that represents national pride and balance between heaven (blue) and earth (red). On both kits, a pride emblem spells out the country’s name in Korean on the rear collar.

Team First Football Club (TFFC) produced a new lookbook for 2022 Nike’s South Korea Collection, collaborating with a special artist goodnewsinthemorning (gnim) who remakes football products. ‘gnim’ remade all the pants, skirts and accessories with old items from previous South Korea collections and football boots.
