The return of the stripes. Arsenal get their adidas partnership underway by unveiling the new 2019/20 home kit that pays homage to the past with a distinctively modern twist. As far as first impressions go it's fair to say that adidas have nailed it with the red half of North London with a stunning debut drop.

The all-new kit design for the 2019/20 season features a classic all-over red body, complemented by popping white sleeves and contrasting collar. The white high collar design is emblazoned with a central red stripe and black trimming. This design is repeated on both sleeves and the distinctive three stripes run across the shoulder in a bright white. Yeah, it's that perfect blend of throwback and modern that brands try so hard to pin down. This is perfection.

The 2019/20 home kit kicks off the brand-new partnership between adidas and Arsenal, which aims to push the club forward both on and off the pitch. Nick Craggs, adidas Football General Manager, commented; “Arsenal has always had a unique culture that has seen them at the forefront of innovation, redefining the game, whilst staying true to their core values. We’re excited to be a part of that and, of course, delivering iconic kits that Arsenal fans love”.

The release of the kit is accompanied by a film ‘This is home’, which explores a timely and powerful message of inclusion; showing how first team players from around the world feel so at home in London and at Arsenal, they’ve become part of the fabric of the club and the community, adopting accents of North London and real Arsenal fans. The spot features players past and present alongside fans including Idris Elba, Ian Wright, Tony Adams, Alexandre Lacazette, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Mesut Ozil, Vivianne Miedema and Mattéo Guendouzi.

This is the first kit of the new partnership after adidas and Arsenal announced the deal that will run from 2019 through to 2024. The three stripes don the Arsenal sleeves for the first time since the 1993/1994 season in a deal worth a reported £60 million per year. Taking effect from July 1, 2019 following a 25 year hiatus. The Three Stripes have an immense back catalogue of Arsenal kits from the 80s and 90s and Gooners will be excited to see what the brand have in store for the rest of this season, and seasons to come. For now, this is the strongest of starts.

On first inspection the 2019/20 Arsenal home shirt is a stunner, and on closer inspection things only get better as the jersey features an all-over honeycomb print to ensure there's nothing plain and mundane here. Plus, Idris Elba likes it, and that's good enough for us. Expect to see Arsenal wear their new home shirt when they get their pre-season schedule underway later this month.
