Ready for the competition in Tokyo this summer, Team GB have unveiled their new kit from adidas. Nestled in amongst the 380 athletes was Ellen White, showing off the new Team GB kit for the women’s football team.

Due to the usual politics we won’t see a men’s team in Tokyo this summer, but the women will be there in force, representing Great Britain on the pitch for what will be only the second time in history. And now we know what they’ll be wearing, after Team GB and adidas unveiled the new kit, the design of which features a contemporary representation of the Union flag, incorporated with inspiration from the host city, featuring intricate Japanese iconography.

The Games are set to be the hottest on record, and to help keep the team cool as they line up in the 12-team tournament that will run from 21 July to 6 August, the kit features HEAT.RDY technology, which is constructed using cooling material and textures that are optimised for use in hot environments.

Crafted with sustainability in mind, each piece in the collection integrates sustainable innovation for the first time in kit history. Leading adidas technologies including PRIMEGREEN: a series of high-performance recycled materials that use a minimum of 40% recycled content and PRIMEBLUE: a high-performance recycled yarn containing at least 50% Parley Ocean Plastic will feature throughout the apparel.

Team GB will head into the competition under the guidance of a former Olympic champion, with Hege Riise confirmed as head coach for the Games. Riise was part of the Norwegian team who won gold at Sydney 2000, upsetting all-conquering USA with an extra time golden goal.
