Ready for another title defence, PUMA launch the Manchester City 21/22 home shirt, with design features that pay homage to the club’s all-time top scorer, Sergio Aguero, and the title win in 2010 that was the catalyst for City’s ongoing period of success.

Following on from last season’s somewhat divisive design, PUMA keep things a bit more clean and simple for Manchester City’s 21/22 home shirt, pairing the classic sky blue with white accents that flash through the branding, sponsor, and underarm side panels. It’s a nod to the title winning campaign from 2010, with it being the first time since then that the kit has featured white. The sky blue base features a textured, digital number design that lends the shirt a greater depth, while the shirt also features nods to departing hero, Sergio Aguero, who recently joined Barcelona after a 10-year stint with City.

Aguero won five league titles in his 10 years with City, including scoring that last minute winner in the final league game of his debut season, which saw the club win its first league title in 44 years, kickstarting the club’s dominance through the last decade. To pay homage to this moment, the numbers ’93:20’ appear on the inside of the collar, nodding to the exact moment of that crucial strike against QPR, while the final two digital digits are inverted to show Aguero’s number ’10’.

The sublimated graphic running throughout the sky blue of the shirt features a blank digital number display, inspired by the detail on the inside of the collar.

The shirt was 'leaked' earlier this week when it appeared in the new trailer for FIFA 22, showing off the full kit in action on the likes of Phil Foden.
