Inspired by the Democracia Corinthiana movement of the 1980s, Brazilian side Corinthians have unveiled their new home and away shirts from Nike, which will be in use 2023 season.

Corinthians have launched their 2023 Nike home and away shirts, which have been inspired by the style of the 80s and the ‘Corinthians Democracy Movement’. The new kits celebrate the history of the iconic club and the inspirational legacy of Brazilian legend Sócrates, who co-founded the ‘Corinthians Democracy Movement’ to promote democracy during the military dictatorship in Brazil.

The 1980s were unforgettable at Parque São Jorge: in 1983, Corinthians celebrated the second São Paulo championship. In addition to the sporting achievement, the title crowned the movement known as Corinthian Democracy. The ‘Corinthians Democracy Movement’ challenged the club’s authoritarian management and transcended football by raising political awareness across the country. Apart from introducing an innovative way to manage a club, it was recognised in Brazil as one of the most important actions in the struggle against dictatorship. At the time, it was a challenge to the military government.

The new Corinthians home and away designs utilise a black Swoosh bordered by red inspired by the colours of the Democracia Corinthiana movement.

Entirely white, the main shirt makes reference to the one used in the early 80s. On the back, at the nape of the neck, the iconic Corinthian Democracy logo is immortalised.

In black, the second uniform brings back the classic white vertical stripes, which travel from the waist to the shoulder, with plain sleeves. A subtle graphic woven into the fabric lends the design a deeper texture.
