Nike's 2015 limited edition game is off to a flyer. After focusing on limited runs of the Mercurial Superfly Nike have switched matters to one of their most legendary boots, made exclusively for one of their most legendary players.

Not many players get their first signature boot at 38 but Francesco Totti's loyalty to the brand has been rewarded with a boot that has become synonymous with the Italian forward. Totti has been a long term Tiempo player and while the silo has evolved one feature of Totti's boots has remained untouched, the trademark tongue, which Totti has continued to request and Nike have continued to deliver.

Born in 1985 as the Tiempo D, one of the most signature features of the boot was always the oversized fold-over tongue. The original purpose of the fold-over tongue was to provide a flat surface on top of the laces for a better strike of the ball, but with boot innovation always progressing Nike saw fit to retire the tongue with the launch of the Tiempo IV in 2011.

Some description

“I have always played with boots that had a tongue and for me, this detail on the product is very important. I wear the Tiempo because it is a comfortable boot with a soft leather upper that adapts well to the foot's shape and grants a great touch of the ball. It's a classic boot that helps me perform at my best when I'm on the pitch.” - Francesco Totti

Nike have used the Roma legend's reputation as a warrior to inspired the unique logo on the sockliner that incorporates Totti’s famous number 10 shirt. The tongue and Swoosh also play off the warrior inspiration with a metallic aesthetic designed to mimic armor.

Just 3000 pairs of Tiempo Legend V Premium will be available from select retailers on 05/03.
