As the half time whistle blows on 2016 we're taking a look at the highlights of the fist six months of the year to see which boots made the most noise. This list started with ten boots, increased to twenty and then stretched to 30 (plus one). Have a scroll through and call out your top five...

From January to July, it's been drop after drop in a busy six months building up to the Copa America and EURO 2016. Brand new silos, next-generation updates and limited edition releases. Well and truly spoilt for choice. If it's a year of two halves then the second period has a lot to live up to.

Nike Hypervenom "Ousadia Alegria" - Taking signature boots to the the sharpest of creative places, Neymar Jr.’s Hypervenom Phantom II “Ousadia Alegria” football boots oozed collaboration. Painted by Brazilian artist Bruno Big, the "Ousadia Alegria" was inspired by the Barcelona strikers homeland. One of the top limited edition numbers of the year so far.

Nike Magista Obra BHM - Nike welcomed Black History Month with a collection of striking beauty. Patterns of geometric glory, this was a release of the highest order on a collection that has evolved since its debut in 2005. Lending itself perfectly to the Magista Obra silhouette the BHM is surely a contender for best looking boot of 2016.

Umbro Medusae Pro - A strong start to the year from Umbro was headlined by the new Medusae Pro; a boot that combined the touch, comfort and fit of premium leather with the ‘speed’ of a lightweight boot. At 185g the Medusae boasted the unique combination of a k-leather vamp with a mesh mid-foot cage.

Nike B&W Tech Pack - The black and white Nike Tech Craft Pack was the perfect hat-trick. From the monochromatic shades to the classic leather finishings, all topped off with a great big dollop of style. Easily one of the cleanest designs of the year.

adidas Fluid & Etch Pack - Exquisite simplicity. That's what adidas executed with their new limited edition Fluid & Etch Pack, which shared black and white designs between the X and ACE silos that were stripped back to the finer details.

adidas Pogba ACE 16+ Purecontrol - An untameable talent that continues to dominate in his own fashion, Paul Pogba is a player that football needs. After becoming an official member of the Three Stripe squad, adidas presented him a limited edition ACE 16+ Purecontrol.

Nike Mercurial Superfly CR7 "Chapter 2" - Nike unveiled the Nike Mercurial Superfly CR7 Chapter II - 'Natural Diamond'. Chapter One was fire infused with tenacity. Shifting the story on a transition, Chapter Two focused on Ronaldo's move away from is childhood home in madeira to Lisbon on a quest to become pro.

Under Armour "Batman vs Superman" - Leaning on their partnership with Warner Bros. Under Armour launched two superhero inspired football boots as Batman led the line with Superman playing just off the shoulder. Both good in the air, naturally. A standout release from March.

PUMA evoSPEED SL Grass - PUMA reached into their diverse and iconic footballing archives for the inspiration behind their latest evoSPEED SL design. Based on the landmark v1.06 boot originally launched in 2006, the evoSPEED SL revived the famous grass print and delivered it in a beautiful re-issue a whole decade later.

adidas X15+ SL - The next stage of the adidas Football Revolution saw the Three Stripes shave excess weight off the X 15.1 by launching the X15+ SL. An innovative new X-CAGE with a shine-through TPU material resulted in the adidas X15+ SL offering a speed-constructed design with striking and more premium graphics.

Bringing the 1998 Mercurial R9 back in an unprecedented way, Nike offered a limited edition run of re-skin options.

adidas Mercury Pack - The boots of the summer? Deliciously dipped in chrome. A collection that shines with flair all over and blended innovation through design with a beautiful composition. The X16+ PURECONTROL, the new Messi 16+ PUREAGILITY and the re-washed ACE 16+ PURECONTROL. Yum.

Nike Hypervenom NJR x Jordan - Two giants of their respective games with mutual respect from the pitch to the court. Nike released a collaborative collection that champions Neymar Jr and Michael Jordan. The Hypervenom II got the Jumpman treatment.

PUMA V1.06 10th Grass - PUMA continued their 10th anniversary celebrations of the v1.06 with a re-release of iconic proportions. The "Grass" edition of the 2006 speed boot was a landmark product in the brand's design journey and it came back again a whole decade later to disrupt once more.

Under Armour Spotlight 2.0 - Under Armour made a swift switch in their boot line-up as the Spotlight replaced the Speedform ahead of the 2016/17 season. Wrapped in "Rocket Red" the silo is set to embark on a new adventure of speed. Still relatively unknown but a landmark drop for the American brand.

Mizuno Morelia Neo II - After five years of untouched beauty Mizuno finally gave a the Morelia Neo an update. A lightweight leather wonder, Mizuno launched an electrifying "Blue/Yellow" edition of the Morelia Neo II. Only slight tweaks but proof that the first-gen was on the money.

adidas Paris Pack - adidas Football paid homage to the host nation of UEFA EURO 2016 with the launch of the Paris Pack, a limited edition collection of footwear for the pitch and street. A duo of delicious designs, the Paris Pack wore the limited edition tag in style.
