The ‘Mutator Pack’ has launched, and it has seen adidas presenting a contrasting approach that places the X 19+ in the blue corner alongside the Nemeziz 19+, while the next generation Predator 20+ Mutator occupies the red corner with the COPA 20+.

On first impressions the new ‘Mutator Pack’ look for the X 19+ doesn’t seem all that original, with the agility silo having taken on varying shades of blue in the not too distant past. Again, at a glance it actually looks like the most out of place amongst the rest of the ‘Mutator Pack’, with bold block colouring utilised across the upper, but a closer look reveals subtle details that sit it comfortably amongst its peers in the pack.

The X joins the Nemeziz with a “Royal Blue/White/Core Black” colourway, taking a strong contrast to the classic red, black and white of the Predator and COPA. The royal blue colouring dominates the X, with white shining through the X-Layskin upper and on the Three Stripes in the forefoot. The black then appears in on the iridescent heel cup, and it’s here that we see the strongest link between the X and the Mutator Pack’s flagship, the Predator 20+, for it also features an iridescence in its heel cup. Flip the X and you see the same graphic travelling down the soleplate that’s carried across the entire pack.

The X 19+ is joined in its ‘Mutator Pack’ look by the laced 19.1 version, and both will be seen on pitch on players like Mo Salah, Son Heung-Min and Gabriel Jesus going forward, as adidas implement their first new style upgrade of 2020.
