We saw them the other day in training, but Cristiano Ronaldo officially debuted his brand-new signature Mercurial Superfly CR7 ‘Spark Positivity’ boots last night, starting life off in his new look kicks in typical fashion with a brace in Portugal's Euro 2020 opener against Hungary.

It’s been a year since Cristiano Ronaldo had his last pair of signature Mercurials, but Nike sorted the Portuguese legend out just in time for his nation’s Euro 2020 opener with 'Spark Positivity'. And what a debut he gave them, with a brace in the last ten minutes of the game helping his side secure a confidence-boosting 3-0 win over Hungary. Until that point it looked like the underdogs were going to frustrate the reigning champs, with Ronaldo having a relatively quiet game. But you just can’t keep this man quiet...

So the first thing of note following their initial appearance on the training ground is that we now know that Cristiano Ronaldo’s new Mercurial Superfly is officially called ‘Spark Positivity’. Following on from the ‘Spark Brilliance’ Mercurial that CR7 wore ahead of Euro 2016 – which Portugal obviously won – the ‘Spark Positivity’ comes from Ronaldo wanting to encourage people to be positive – both on and off the pitch – because, in line with his ethos, when you have a positive mindset, you can achieve great things.

From a design perspective, the official colourway is “Chile Red/Black/White/Total Orange”, and we get a much clearer look at that red lightning bolt aesthetic that wraps around the entirety of the white base, while black accents allow the Swoosh on the forefoot and mercurial branding to stand out. The orange colouring is restricted to a cameo appearance on the soleplate, flashing on the stud tips. That lightning obviously alludes to electricity, tying in with the whole spark idea of the name. Internally, there's the iconic celebration silhouette on the right insole, and Ronaldo's signature on the left.

It's yet another stand out look for "Mr. Mercurial", and you can expect plenty more goals from Ronaldo in them if Portugal's first match was anything to go by. Tougher tests to come in Germany and France, but you would never bet against CR7.

The Nike Mercurial Superfly CR7 'Spark Positivity' will be available from 28 June on prodirectsoccer.com
