Arsenal and England full back Kieran Gibbs was officially unveiled as an adidas player at Pro-Direct LDN19 this week.
Gibbs had been with Nike since his Arsenal debut in October 2007 but he's now swapped the Swoosh for the Stripes and he'll be wearing the F50 adizero from this weekend when the Gunners host Newcastle at the Emirates. After stopping by at LDN19 to pick up his new wheels Gibbs chatted to us about his switch in allegiance.
On the move to adidas Kieran told us; "I haven't worn adidas boots for over ten years and I've always been interested in the brand, not just the boots but the fashion side of the brand too. When I think of adidas I think of David Beckham, he was someone I admired growing up and he was always an adidas player."
"I was more of a Copa Mundial player when I was growing up but I always remember getting a pair of Predator Accelerators one year and my brother was really jealous!" Gibbs added.
Kieran's move to team adidas will see him join the German trio of Özil, Podolski and Mertesacker in the brand at Arsenal. "All the adidas players at Arsenal spoke so highly of the brand it became a really easy decision for me to make. I'll be wearing the F50, which is perfect for me as a full back that likes to get forward often. They're lightweight and I've got slim feet so they fit really well."
"I always train the day before in my match boots and for the rest of the week I'll train in a different pair and I'm looking forward to wearing them for the first time against Newcastle this weekend. I used to be more traditional with boot colours but I like the more graphic designs now. The game is evolving all the time and they always grown on me."
