adidas Wrap Up Walcott Deal

adidas have announced today that Arsenal's Theo Walcott has swapped the Swoosh for the Stripes to pen a long term deal with the brand, ending his 11 year relationship with Nike.

The England forward has spent his entire career in the Nike Mercurial Vapor series but has switched allegiances to join team adidas and to be one of the lead faces of the brand in their current #therewillbehaters campaign. Walcott will naturally slip into the adizero F50 silo and he'll be lacing them up for the first time when Arsenal visit Selhurst Park to take on Palace tomorrow.

Upon signing on the three dotted line Walcott commented: “I am excited to be joining adidas and lining up alongside some of the world’s best players. The adidas adizero F50 is an exceptional boot and I am looking forward to wearing the boots and scoring goals in them."

Some description

On the back of the move, adidas Global Director of Sports Marketing, Gregory Fernandez added: “We are immensely proud to have signed Theo Walcott to become part of the growing adidas family which includes some of the best players in the world. Theo is an exceptional player who has achieved so much in his career to date and we look forward to being part of that next chapter with him as one of the faces of the adidas F50”.

What do you think of Walcott's move to adidas? Mini-Nike player exodus continues? The exit door has certainly been spinning quicker than the entrance door at Nike HQ recently...
