Barcelona announce mammoth long-term kit deal with Nike, exceeding Manchester United's and Real Madrid's deals with adidas.
Nike have extended their current sponsorship deal with Barcelona, which was due to end on 30 June 2018. The new agreement which has been extended until 2026 is reported to be the most lucrative arrangement of its kind in the world (a staggering £120m a season according to Spanish media) and takes the relationship between FC Barcelona and Nike to over 30 years ― Nike have been supplying the Blaugrana's kits since 1998.
If the reports are correct, Barcelona will surpass Real Madrid (£106m a season with adidas) with the most lucrative kit-sponsorship deal in the world. Full details of Barcelona’s new Nike contract will be announced at the club’s next general assembly. The announcement comes at a time when Barça have given the order to Nike to start making their shirts for next season without a sponsor after renewal talks with Qatar Airways broke down.
