Umbro increase their Premier League presence by announcing a new partnership with AFC Bournemouth. The Double Diamond will begin life on the South Coast from the beginning of the 2017/18 season.
In what is a club record deal for Bournemouth, Umbro have signed with the Cherries to supply bespoke kits, replica and training-wear for an initial five-year period, beginning with the 2017/18 season. Umbro are a brand synonymous for producing replica royalty and it's a damn good sight to see them back fighting on the elite stage, firing out of both bespoke barrels.
The deal with Bournemouth could result in Umbro boasting four Premier League teams next season, with the Cherries joining Everton, West Ham and Hull City (if they beat the drop). Umbro have upped their replica reach in recent season with huge success at PSV Eindhoven as well as even bigger results in South America and Asia with clubs such as Vasco da Gama and Gamba Osaka on board with the brand. Each club that signs with Umbro is rewarded with complete bespoke treatment when it comes to kit design, none of the template trash. Reassuring stuff if you're a Bournemouth fan.
To mark the beginning of the partnership, Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe, captain Simon Francis and Umbro’s head of UK soccer, Simon Johnson met at Vitality Stadium, where a giant sand sculpture of the two logos was unveiled to celebrate the announcement. The two-metre tall sculpture was created over the course of two days by local sand artist Mark Sanderson, using 10 tonnes of sand. Now you know.
