Nike, adidas & PUMA prepare to showcase their World Cup boots on the biggest stage in European football.
With an expected TV audience of over 350 million people, it's no wonder Nike, adidas and PUMA want to use the Champions League final to showcase their new World Cup boots. Atlético Madrid players, who yesterday trained at the Vicente Calderon stadium ahead of this Saturday's final in Lisbon, displayed a host of new boots including the Nike Magista, Mercurial Superfly IV, adidas Battle Pack and PUMA Tricks Pack.
Atlético Madrid could complete an historic La Liga and Champions League double this weekend after securing their first domestic title in 18 years. If Atlético can overturn their city rivals, it'll be a Nike, adidas or PUMA boot that makes history and cements its place in the record books.
Adidas' Atlético contingent include Tiago Mendes (11Pro), Diego Ribas (Predator Instinct) and David Villa (f50 adizero), while Nike have players including the likes of Javier Manquillo (Mercurial Superfly), Toby Alderweireld (Magista Obra) and Thibaut Courtois (Magista Opus) on their books. PUMA also have a strong presence in the Atlético squad with Diego Godin and Gabi Fernandez both wearing the Tricks Pack.
With the ultimate prize at stake, combined with local animosity and a complete line up of new football boots, a classic is brewing in Lisbon. Who are you backing to lift the trophy this Saturday night?
