Ronaldo is scheduled to wear his new signature boots when Real Madrid host city rivals Atletico in the Copa del Rey on Thursday night before scrubbing them up and placing them in his archives alongside his Nike Mercurial Vapor IX White/Gold boots that marked his 2013 Ballon d'Or success. The gold colourway was selected as the main colour by Nike as they believe gold is earned and Ronaldo has done exactly that in a year that saw him lift the Champions League and chalk up 52 goals in 43 games. Nike have yet to reveal how many pairs have been produced but a boot that features micro-diamonds and a bespoke low fitting collar to Cristiano's exact specifications can be expected to be in high demand should Nike have plans to roll out a limited run.
Real Madrid and Ronaldo take on Atletico on Thursday 15 Jan where CR7 is expected to wear the boots. What do you think of the "Rare Gold" Superfly? Comments below.
