Coming out of the Christmas period with ultimate signature present, Cristiano is set to wear his limited edition possessions for the first time when Real Madrid host Sevilla in the Copa del Rey Round of 16 at the Bernabeu tomorrow night. Glistening in the winter sun, Ronaldo laced up in one of just 777 individually numbered Nike Mercurial Superfly CR7 Vitórias boots, with the other 776 pairs scheduled to drop later this month.
How did he earn these little pearlers, you ask? A fourth Ballon d'Or, a Champions League title and a EURO 2016 Championship goes some way to explaining that. Nike served up a statement of superiority for their main man to confirm his place at the very top of the footballing tree at Christmas. At 31, Nike could well be seeing this boot and 2016 as the bookend of a magnificent period of prime for CR7. The man himself will be aiming to be viewed in the same light this time next year.
